Teen’s mental health experiences inspire new film By Conor HalpinA young Mullingar man’s experiences of maintaining sound mental health are the inspiration behind a new documentary on the subject, ‘Bruised Not Broken’.
Josh Deegan (22) is working with Michael Benson Productions on the film, which also includes contributions from Jackie Fox (who campaigned for Coco’s law), other members of the Brighter Thoughts Ireland team, mental health nurses, and counsellors. MISSION
To create and deliver innovative approaches that educate, inform and inspire people to cultivate good mental health and reduce stigma leading to less death by suicide
The organisation is premised on the belief that there are gaps in existing services for those who have attempted or contemplated suicide. We are also here to listen to Teenagers about any problems they may be facing and we are here to give teens a voice and a chance to be heard.
Underlying BTI’s vision is the idea that “behind every statistic on suicide and self-harm, there is a person” and "Your illness does not define you, Your strength and courage does". Brighter Thought's Ireland started at Joshua's kitchen table born out of his own experience and that of people he came into contact with. The organisation has always remained true to its roots and always will.
The aim of the organisation is to is to help teens through challenging times and make them more aware about Mental Health through workshop's.
